“…The City of Manhattan Beach has learned that the odors stemmed from preparation for a major routine maintenance project at one of Chevron’s El Segundo Refinery’s processing units. Unfortunately, an operational upset on Sunday evening caused a few intermittent operational issues with sulfur treatment facilities that may have generated the unpleasant odors.
Both the City and Chevron recognizes the inconvenience and concern this has caused residents, and City Manager David Carmany is meeting with Chevron representatives to address and resolve this issue immediately, including discussions with Chevron to assure residents that the odors pose no health risks or environmental impacts.”
