Mark Leyman, the recreation services manager for the city of Manhattan Beach, will take the helm of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, officials said Wednesday.
Leyman will replace retiring Director Richard Gill.
He has 19 years of experience in municipal recreation departments, including 13 years with Manhattan Beach. As the recreation services manager, Leyman oversaw a $1.5 million sports, fitness and aquatics budget while creating and maintaining numerous high-profile events and partnerships, a news release states.
“He has already accomplished a lot for the city in his time here, and I am very confident that he will do an excellent job as the new director of our Parks and Rec Department,” City Manager David Carmany said of Leyman.
